- Report identity (ID) theft to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) online at identitytheft.gov or by phone at 1-877-438-4338.
- Contact and notify the companies where you know the fraud occurred.
- Place a free, one-year fraud alert by contacting one of three credit bureaus (they must tell the other two of your alert):
- Ask for your free credit report to review all fraud impacts. Consider “freezing” your credit to prevent further impact.
